Our library media program is integral to the education of each child.  It supports the curriculum and extends classroom experiences using a variety of media.  The program develops students' abilities to become lifelong learners by encouraging reading for pleasure and reading for information.
Classes visit the library each week for 45 minutes.  Individual students or small groups may come to the library anytime, with permission from their teacher, for checkout, to take AR quizzes, or research topics for class assignments.

CHECKOUT POLICY

  • Grades K - 1     1 book
  • Grades 2 - 5     2 books  (students may check out more for projects or reports)
  • Books are checked out for one week, and may be renewed.
  • Students with overdue books are unable to check out until overdues are returned
  • Lost or damaged books must be paid for.

    Virginia Readers Choice
  •  Each year the Virginia State Reading Association nominates ten books at the Primary (K-3), Elementary (3-6), Middle (6-9), and the High ( (10-12) school levels. These books are chosen for their literary merit. Ferry Farm Library owns multiple copies of all of the primary and elementary selections. The books are read to the Kindergartners, first, and second graders during library  time. Third, fourth, and fifth graders are encouraged to read the books after hearing Booktalks.  All VRC books have AR (Accelerated Reader) quizzes.
